thats my opinion at least. i think they need people who will embrace change and not be happy with the status quo as it is now.

How have you come to the conclusion that these two have their heads firmly stuck in the sand, out of interest?

used to read him or who i presumed was him on the bdo forum, he never exactly exuded positivity.

Ah right I see. To be fair, everything I've heard about him has been about his attempts to organise the super series or whatever it was called so I took that to mean he is quite forward thinking. I know Wolfie has also been quite forthright in advocating improvements that he feels would benefit the players too so I'm unsure where the idea that they would let things stay as they are comes from.
fair enough, my over riding memory of reading his thoughts on there were of the negative but i could be doing him a dis service.

I think the 2 of them are pricks and definately would have no problems in continuing the split and refusing to deal with barry hearn

if he is frustrated then i suppose that would cause the negativity that was so evident.
im not in a position of great knowledge to be honest, just how i found him on there.

neither can be truly happy with the way the bdo has stagnated. they support the party line in public which is to be expected i guess.
behind the scenes the top players must be unhappy with the lack of oppurtunities surely? they must look with envy at the prize money in the pdc, human nature being what it is.

the two watered down days of the masters has reached the point where its almost pointless for me as a tv event.

I'd like them to show the earlier rounds although I wouldn't mind the current format so much if they actually showed all of it from Saturday through to Sunday night.
The earlier round I would actually be more interested in watching. Both Sky and the BBC seem to think viewers only want to watch the big name players.

They have no idea what the reaction would be as they won't try it.
Sky even had players saying the same as we are. Be interesting to see if the viewing figures dropped massively during the few games shown in the UK Open when the top six or so weren't playing.

obviously people like us will watch unconditionally,as to the casual viewer, well hard to be really accurate.
The World championships did excellent in terms of viewers, considering there was no taylor in the latter stages, nor barney.I was not surprised either. However the world championships is the pinnacle of darts and the UK Open for all its value is still a lesser major.I think viewing figures did not drop with the loss on taylor, barney lewis and anderson., nor do I sense it was record breaking either.

All i could find in terms of viewing figures for the UK Open this month were that 5 sessions ranked on the top 10 for SKY Sports 1 & SKY Sports 2 respectively for the week May 30th-June 5th, these were....
-
Round 3 (SSP1 Friday 7pm session) 158,000 viewers.
TV games on the main stage (notable exits and rank in current OOM)...
-Adrian Lewis(2), Simon Whitlock(5)
-
Round 4 (SSP2 Saturday 1pm session) 77,000 viewers.
TV games on the main stage (notable exits and rank in current OOM)...
-Gary Anderson(4), Terry Jenkins(7), Ronnie Baxter (12)
-
Round 5 (SSP2 Saturday 7pm session) 121,000 viewers.
TV games on the main stage (notable exits and rank in current OOM)...
-Phil Taylor(1), Van Barneveld(6)
-
Quarter Finals (SSP2 Sunday 1pm session) 142,000 viewers.
TV games on the main stage (notable exits and rank in current OOM)...
-Paul Nicholson(11)
Semi Finals & Final (SSP1 Sunday 7pm) 227,000 viewers.
TV games involved James Wade(3), Wes Newton(8), Mark Webster(10), Denis Ovens(23)
Had the whole tournament been on SSP1 then the figures overall i'm sure would have been alot higher.
England V Bulgaria Euro Qualifier was on ITV saturday afternoon which no doubt played a part denting the 4th round viewing figures.

I dont know if last year both saturday and sunday were split into two session like this year 1pm & 7pm but only two sessions for the 2010 Uk Open ranked last year but if they were....
-Round 4 SSP2 1pm session. 78,000 viewers.
-Quarter Finals SSP2 1pm session 190,000 viewers.
Also it looks like it all may have been shown on SSP2, live cricket on SSP1 dominated the 1-10 rankings which may be why.

Proving you dont need Taylor to get viewers.
