Great thread Oche.

I have zero recollection of the Mardle vs Dudbridge game or its rowdy crowd.

I do recall Dudbridge missing tops for to go 3-1 up in the final.

The "X code masters" followed the 05 PDC Worlds.

As we established over the summer, Taylor was immense in 2005 post Tavern. He only lost on TV in the Matchplay to Part and dominated the cross code stuff.

Not a single dart of that was shown live, as far as I can tell. I'm attempting to collect a complete record of the BBC's coverage of 1995 lakeside.

No live lake darts on regular telly from Tuesday to Friday at the 2005 edition. It's amazing how that was normal.

However! For digital viewers, the red button was now available, making this potentially the first lakeside where every dart could be watched live on tv?

The Masters of Darts was in February 2005. A lot of people going in were saying that Barney was better than Taylor at that moment. They were wrong.

Aside from Taylor winning all 6 of his matches, the 2005 Masters of Darts was a good tournament for the BDO though. All 4 of their players (i.e. Barneveld, Fordham, David, Stompe) beat both Lloyd and Mardle, while Barneveld and Fordham also beat Scholten. Fordham beat Scholten again in the semi final.

Yes. Taylor won 4-0 in sets in the round robin, and 5-2 in sets in the semi final.

Darts Extra was a good highlights programme, But it was a thing back then that every match wasn't live.

Fascinating stuff.

Bristow complaining about the best of 3 sets format for round 1. Best of 3 sets for the last 32.

Taylor also beat Hankey in a cross code event later in the year. He smashed Barney H2H in their cross code meetings that year [6-1]

I can see why some felt he was vulnerable after his performances in the latter stages of the 2005 PDC Worlds though.
