Re: 2025 World Series of Darts
Would always rather players told the truth about what they feel than ass kiss. Even if that truth annoys the organisers.
Team Corvid 2025 consists of the following 12 players.
Clayton, Littler, Gilding, De Sousa, Wright, Evans, Campbell, Scutt, Lauby, Rob Owen, Patrick Geeraets and Justin Hood.

Not to be too stereotypical, but the Dutch and the Belgians don’t have a filter do they?DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 5:59 pmI spoke positively and in depth about how much I approved of De Decker's PL comments.Bram_1900 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:57 am But even if the PDC had invited De Decker on time, he would have declined. "The World Series is not a tournament I was looking forward to anyway, and definitely not the one in the Netherlands. If you're invited, you'd prefer to go to Bahrain or Australia; at least those are nice countries. Of all the places where those tournaments are held, you don’t particularly want to be invited to Den Bosch."
However, this particular comment is awful and comes across as ungrateful. He got invited, many other major TV winners did not get a single World Series event invite in the past when they won a major, Smudger, Gilding, Noppert for the Australia/NZ events to name three.
What about the other players who missed out on PL but didn't even get invited to this? Ritchie Edhouse would've loved to play in Den Bosch I'm sure. Heta, Chizzy, Clayton three players in the World's top 10 who'd have loved to be involved in World Series stuff again.
As a complete randomer with absolutely no media training or experience in darts whatsoever (), my advice to De Decker would be to think about how his words will come across before he says them.
Yes the PL selection is undeserving shite, but there are players much worse off than you. These comments alienate yourself from everyone, especially the people that run the tour.

I get what he means though, den Bosch is neither a home event for Mike, nor is it exotic enough to be an attraction. Also think it’s a bit different to be considered for the events Down Under or in Bahrain where he’d be in line to be considered among the elites rather than this one where his status is essentially the same as the likes of Doets and Wattimena (fine players, but not major champions)

Re: 2025 World Series of Darts
But needs it to be exotic? Its not like he stays there all week. Its a 1:45 drive. Do your job and go back home. If he wants an higher status then he should try to earn it, and trying to qualify for the WSOD finals would help. He has one QF and won 1 major. Thats nothing these days. Seeing the podcast he has the entitlement of Ronnie O'Sullivan but not 1% of its status. I mean Dimitri had a better year on tv (and also won a major), so that also could have been the Belgium pick for the PL if there needed to be one.thegentle wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 7:32 pm I get what he means though, den Bosch is neither a home event for Mike, nor is it exotic enough to be an attraction.
