really? think about it. Look at the old dartboards. Wires FAR thicker, trebles clearly smaller. Better lighting allows you to see the board more clearly. Barrel size makes a big difference. Take Leighton Rees. He used massive 30 odd gram darts, yet despite all these hazards, threw a 97.5 average in this game. Imagine if he used thinner darts what his average would be like. That combined with far thinner wires etc today, makes for me around a 10 point difference in the averages at least.Dfc180 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 10:44 amThe trebles are bigger because the wire is smaller, better lighting and no smoke don't make any difference and the size of the dart doesn't matter eitherSmithy1412 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 10:04 am Far easier to do so on today's boards with the non existent wire, trebles 3 times the size, better lighting, more tournaments, no smoke in the way of the board, darts with extremely thin barrels...

The fact he averaged 97.5 proves the barrel size doesn't matter. Also more 9 darters are hit in floor events as opposed to TV events where the lighting is superiorSmithy1412 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 11:30 amreally? think about it. Look at the old dartboards. 2) Started incoherent thread, which included said meltdown.
3) Sobered up and realised he'd made a tit out of himself, decided to flounce.

I hope everything is alright with Rob. I would like to have him back on the forum. A flounce is a good laugh but at the end of the day we are losing a decent member.

He was a pain in the arse during the DBG negotiations, but he was otherwise sound from what I recall.
