Wading can only get you so far against an opponent who is simply throwing better than you

One of these days, one of these days, he might just run of opponents and accidentally win the Worlds...

run OUT of opponents, that is meant to say. Bloody forum, can't edit a wank.

Wade, anyway. His route through this event was almost indecently fortunate while Smith remains on course for one of the greater world title wins.

I feel this Covid affected year might have been the year, but alas he wasn't that lucky and he wasn't that good. While a world title would be a just reward in some ways for a fantastic year for Wright, I do hope Smith wins, he's faced a murderers' row of opponents!

We should keep a copy of these. Thanks to https://twitter.com/PremiumDartData

Just the 24 180s for Wright. You've never seen anyone do that.

Jesus, they obliterated that then. The old SF record is dust. Over 42 legs.

Looking on darts database, that Cross-MVG semi-final was 27-27 in legs. 27-27?!

THE FINAL

(98.34) Peter Wright 7-5 Michael Smith (99.22)

27-23 legs.

Both averaged 82 in the first set. Reminiscent of that Mardle-Taylor disaster first set in a world semi-final(?) years back.

For someone to play and win a match llke that against mvg 11 months after turning professional is absolutely mental.

Aaaand today a 96-player field will be compared perfectly against a field of 70-odd. Tremendous.

There are so many different versions of oche. That's so desperately poor. Wish he'd calm down. I can't possibly stalk all of them.

Tournament averages then. Note that the field was expanded to 96 in 2019.

2022 ends up the same as 2012. If that means anything to you.

2010- 89.77
2011- 91.71
2012- 91.85
2013- 92.05
2014- 92.57
2015- 93.40
2016- 93.96
2017- 94.84
2018- 94.50
------------------
2019- 92.05
2020- 92.59
2021- 93.33
2022- 91.85
