I remember an interview with Gary Anderson ( I'm guessing about 5 or 6 years ago ) where he said he'd been practicing with Chris Dobey and he thought he was one of the best young players outside the top group and thought it was only a matter of time before he broke through.
It's clearly taken a while but it just sprang to mind.

Dobey is one of the top players that you can visually see nerves on their face in big moments… he had enough breathing room to get over the line. Same happened with Smith in the grand slam, he’s another one who may not necessarily be a one hit wonder now he’s got over the line
