6-2 7-0 7-0 was Manley world final record.
2002,yes, he sulked off with shaking hands.
Seem to remember he beat Wayne Jones 6-0 in the semi.

2006 semi. Brilliant performance by Manley, on the day of the Taylor vs. Mardle struggle. In the final, a completely different story.Randall wrote:6-2 7-0 7-0 was Manley world final record.

Manley was also beaten by Barneveld 7 sets to 0 in the 2007 Masters of Darts final. Barney averaged something like 107.90. Prior to this final, Manley had won 6 matches in a row, against all 5 Dutch lads (Barneveld, van Gerwen, Scholten, van der Voort, Klaasen) and had an amazing semi final comeback to beat Mervyn King, with Manley hitting several 100+ outshots in succession when on the brink of defeat.

Sidney called Manley a cheat after that match against Lewis

Re: Your earliest darting memory....
Lewis walked off stage because of a few verbals from Manley. There's Lewis' youth and inexperience showing. Sid later admitted on commentary that most people seemed to blame Lewis, and thought that Lewis had caused the resulting fallout controversy. Did Lewis good in the long run, anyway.

Re: Your earliest darting memory....
My earliest memory of watching darts on TV was a 1 hour highlights show on Fox Sports in Australia, that was showing the 2003 World Grand Prix. I think these highlights shows were done by Sky, so they probably aired in UK as well. They showed 2 episodes at a time, once per week, so it took a few weeks to get through the tournament. Once they switched to the next tournament, which must have been the 2004 World Championship, I couldn't get used to them not starting on a double.
That was the extent of darts shown on Pay TV for the next few years. I can remember that when the Premier League started, they showed 2 Premier League games per episode, so the Premier League took about 12 weeks to get through. By the time it ended, they were so far behind I think they skipped other tournaments.
The first live game that Fox Sports showed in Australia was the Whitlock-Taylor final in 2010, which they only decided to show live at the last minute. From 2011, they have showed the WC and all major tournaments in full and live.

Think a few pundits fancied him in the 06 final after both players semi final performances.

I don't think the BDO was shown in Australia at that time, even when Tony David won it.Randall wrote:Captain Hobo wrote:My earliest memory of watching darts on TV was a 1 hour highlights show on Fox Sports in Australia, that was showing the 2003 World Grand Prix. A few years ago it would appear every year on Eurosport, but not for the last couple of years.

Re: Your earliest darting memory....
As far as I can pinpoint one, the first match I watched in full was the 1999 World Matchplay Final. Harrington-Manley.
Harrington was me fave player in my first few years of being aware of darts ok thanks then he became shit and abandoned me.

That's a bit unfortunate. So how well known is David in Australia? He has five UK fanboy extremists I won't go near.Captain Hobo wrote:I don't think the BDO was shown in Australia at that time, even when Tony David won it.

Absolutely unknown apart from darts fanatics. If you asked 100 people who is the only Australian World Champion, I reckon 5 would say Whitlock and the rest would say no idea.Rogg wrote:That's a bit unfortunate.
