wow didn't see this score coming, to be fair this is the best I've seen MVG play without having a dip in form yet, too many loose darts for Anderson, maybe back related, maybe not, such a precise game at this elite level it takes very little to turn a 105 average into a 98 one and that won't do against MVG

The defending champ traditionally plays on Night 1.

But the greater principle is to make sure that every session involves a seed.

Fair enough, not like the unseeded player would have much chance against Cross anyway.

Nathan dragged his average from less than 92 after two sets (6 legs) up to more than 104 after six sets (25 legs).
For those 19 legs, he was smashing in massive numbers.
Incredible display from him, and from Smith to find a way to maintain his 105 average for the last 3 sets.

Yeah I'm worried for Smith, I won't believe he can win until he does, a few crucial missed doubles and he could be 3 or 4 0 down easily, the worst thing for Smith would be to have lots of chances, blow most of them and then be thinking of what might have been after the tournament, it doesn't matter how well he is playing he can always miss clumps of doubles so I can't see him winning, I'd love it if he did though.
