strauss always does well against the poorer teams, less so against the big boys it seems to me.

Strauss to me is far too inconsistent as a batter. He did as well as anyone against the Aussies in 2005 and then dipped. Lost his place and was recalled then under pressure scored a crucial ton. Can't remember who against though.

Even though England reached number one status under his captaincy I think this was despite his tactics and not a result of them. He's far too negative for my liking with his field placings when the bowlers want to attack and his declarations are a joke.
