Mighty Mike destroys all who face him. Wade was no match for him. Krusty, Ando, Suljovic, Thorn, Klaasen, Chizzy Lewis and Taylor would have put up a better fight. 90 average had no chance of beating Mighty Mike.

I agree but it doesn't make Wade's performance any better does it. As mental as he is, Wade is, or was, a quality player and it is annoying to see him put in such a poor effort. And wtf is up with that interview there and the cringey Adams style fake laugh.

Has there been a good one since the semi and finals started being played the same day?
One more thing baz has wrong with this event.
Been a decent tournament giving the BDO beggars a good hiding, so not all is lost.

I think it speaks volumes that players as old as Taylor, Barney and Anderson are seen as the biggest threats to van Gerwen today, the ones who are most capable of delivering the goods under pressure. Lewis should be the most embarrassed, considering that he used to be a thorn in van Gerwen's side just 3 years ago.

Said he didn't want to lose to a Dutchman in England when all the crowd is supporting himself.

Jokingly told the interviewer to piss off.

A very valid point. As bad as Lewis has become, MVG has gotten incredibly better over the last 3 years. He just brushed aside Wade in third gear. The PDC needs another breakthrough player who will challenge MVG regularly as the current crop just aren't up to standard.

Need another major that's set play, MVG more vulnerable in set play. It's only World Champs thats set play isn't it that's not double in to start?

In sum, the tournament was rather poor. It had some good moments but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I used to. Needs to be unranked next year, or the BDO players need dropped. Good night Tdf, you all did very well.

Van Gerwen has the hunger for every tournament that other players don't. Fortunately, other players will be just as determined to win the World Championship.
Wouldn't have been so bad if he'd played like he did earlier but he won that in third gear while wade couldn't raise his game at all.
Van Gerwen recovered from an early deficit to go 10-5 up, and Wade showed that he would miss doubles when given chances, which in turn boosted MvG's morale. Van Gerwen didn't need to raise it any more and just cruised along. Players have really got to realize that the most important thing against van Gerwen is to make him know that you are not going to miss doubles when you get the chance. That is even more important than power scoring against him, even though that has its importance too. If van Gerwen knows that his opponent is going to hit doubles when he gets the chance, it puts him under pressure and he's likely to miss more. If the opponent is going to miss those darts at doubles, van Gerwen relaxes and cruises along.
