Fair play to Duzza for the 170. Some bollocks to do that.
But can we please stop this bullshit of starting on the treble 19's for ton plus outshots that has somehow become the norm? He'd have almost guaranteed hit 1 treble 20 out of 2 on that 108 finish at the end to give himself a shot at it. Who fucking cares if the 19's leave you with a tidier double?
He must have been looking at d16, which he could have gone for had he gone for t20. You'd still back a pro darts player to hit 1/2 t19s, but yeah, the t20 % would be significantly higher

Thanks to B. 93 players in the money this weekend.
Burton DeWitt @bsd987
Dave Chisnall's 13th PDC title—moving him level with All-Time Great Robert Thornton for 16th-most in PDC history—lifts him to second on the Players Championship Order of Merit after 2 of 30 events.

The former amateur loses his biggest game, but he had the time of his life today
If he had won, I wonder if he'd have let slip that it means as much to him as winning Lakeshite.

lol badge licker is always in the moment and honestly that is not a bad thing during the match. But come on we all know he is full of shit when he carries that over to the interview and he loses all perspective on the big picture. Q school is one small step, winning a floor event in the PDC is another small step. Anyone with a brain cell knows he has the talent to win a few of these and Q school should have been a walk in the park for him. The real question is how is going to do in a years time or even two after the regular grind gets to him and it dawns him he is playing for his bread and butter.

I completely understand the thinking behind the shot, but I think it's nonsense to go for it in that situation. A few legs before he took out a 170 needing to hit 2 big trebles under extreme pressure. He had 108 for the title, he knew it was probably his last shot, he has to play the percentages in that situation. If Chizzy is sat on 208 then fair enough. It's so daft and so many players seem to do it with very little success.

Not only that, but a blocker on the T19 like he had meant it was curtains after 1 dart essentially. If he blocks the T20 on that 108, he has the option of a clean effort at the 16's for a shot at a decent double. It's pure overthinking, everyone trying to be a clever arse like MvG.

Have had a mare of a day, upgraded Sky + to Sky Q, am happy with it now but knocked my broadband and TV out for hours.
Fair play to Duzza reaching the final, did he choke to Chizzy?
A couple more and he gets to Blackpool

There are 62 different scoring areas of the dartboard. You can go for what you want.
A 108 checkout is one of those with many different, and logical, ways. There's treble 20 to leave 48 and pick your double, there's shanghai on 18s, there's 4x19s for double 16, and 4x17s for double 20.

I think T20, T19 and T18 are all reasonable targets here. I don't think a pro player would be significantly worse on 19s or 18s than 20s.
Even if they are slightly worse, there is an other thing to consider. If you miss the big number on either side you still have a finish if you went 18s. You can miss into S5 or S3 and not have a finish

Agree with thorn you get a little bit more leniency going the 18's, the treble 1 is the danger. And if your of the mind to go at the same segment with the second dart missing the treble that is the one to go for. I think it is less likely your going to block treble if your darts in the 18 fat.

You spend the vast majority of your visits to a dartboard aiming at the treble 20.
Glen Durrant a few legs before the last one hit 2 massive pressure treble 20's with no room for error on a finish.
You play the percentages, he had 3 darts left to make a difference, an open T20 bed which he'd been absolutely peppering and he suddenly switches down to 19's.
It's dumb.
