Watched by 19.3 million, it is the UK’s most-watched scripted show across all broadcasters and streamers since current records began in 2002.
Fuck knows why
I've watched a few episodes of it. It's nice gentle humour and i think its popular because of that. James Corden being in it doesn't really harm the show. The Christmas Episode was a bit meh mind

Saturday 13th May 1995.

Somebody was scribbling on this during Eurovision.

A rerun of Fawlty Towers is being pushed hard. It gets the front cover of the Radio Times, no less.

Saturday 14th May 1994.

BBC1 begins a 3-part tribute to Morecambe & Wise, 10 years on from Eric Morecambe's death. This day in 1994 would have been Eric's 68th birthday.

Elsewhere it is the FA Cup final: Man United v Chelsea. Man United are attempting to equal Tottenham's(?!) record of 8 FA Cup wins.

The current record for FA Cup wins is Arsenal with 14. Spurs are still on 8.

Saturday 15th May 1993.

The Radio Times has a souvenir edition, marking 70 years of the FA Cup final being played Wembley.

Today's final is Arsenal v Sheffield Wednesday. It had also been the coca-cola cup final that season. The match finishes 1-1 after extra-time, meaning a replay will be played the following week.

BBC1 also has Eurovision 1993, from Ireland. ITV has live boxing: Chris Eubank v Ray Close.

Lots of decent TV programmes to watch

I think Eurovision 1993, Sonia finished 2nd and she was favourite to win it as she was better known then the others and the song was Europop but UK got screwed in the voting and Ireland won again

Sunday 16th May 2021.

4 years ago today. Premier League football in an empty stadium.

94:18 on the clock, Liverpool's Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker heads in a crucial winner against West Brom. Send the keeper up!

Saturday 17th May 1997.

The second episode of Jonathan Creek on BBC1 at 8.10pm. That's a photo of its writer David Renwick who also wrote One Foot in the Grave. Not too bad.

It's also FA Cup final day. Juninho v Zola. Middlesbrough v Chelsea. Middlesbrough have already been relegated and today won't go too well either. They resolutely held Chelsea to 0-0 until the 43rd second when Roberto Di Matteo wandered through the middle and smacked one in.

Monday 19th May 1969.

This is a cool article from 56 years ago today in the Telegraph.

Pondering on what television will be like in fifty years' time (2019), and what will become of the shows of the day.

I bet they won't be showing Ross Kemp on 'Bridge of Lies' in 50 years. Soz Ross!

A 15th series of BBC sitcom Not Going Out has been commissioned, to air in 2026.

It will have been going for 20 years and 110+ episodes. For a modern sitcom that's crazy.

I remember watching the original airing of the very first episode.
