Aye but dont really see the point of them compared to the normal "diamonds" (or whatever you call them). Doesnt really save any time.

they just explained on commentary that it means you need less power to break the pack up and also it makes it easier to 'sink the wing ball'

They also said it keeps the balls closer together than the normal triangle.

But I don't really understand why they use it for the first few rounds only.

The wing ball thing is true when they break from the side, not where Gould is breaking from.
