But 20 years back he was averaging more on boards cripplingly more difficult.
Puts it in perspective
Taylor's greatness is already in perspective. We've done it. Please read your memos.
It's still crazy how much better he was 20 years ago than players now.
Many players in this have been far superior versions of themselves at various times, but still woof.

Taylor just got lucky that he never had to deal with Durrant.

Yeah durrants 95 averages on boards with trebles like buckets would really have troubled him in his pomp!

Adams' record in PDC TV events in the early 2000s is overrated though.

He beat Manning, Smith, Roy, Manley and Warriner.

Yet lost to Lowe, Taylor, and Burgess.

Manning and Roy were opening round fodder. Smith was a QF level player who never reached the final of a PDC major. So discounting them, his record was 2-3 against the PDC's elite. He also never reached the final of a PDC major in 3 attempts.

I suspect the other top BDO players of that period would have posted similar records in Adams' shoes. RVB would have probably done a bit better, but even he was never a match for Taylor.

He wasn't getting to the business end of bdo events in 01 either to be fair.

He was the number 2 seed for the 2002 BDO World Championship and was only a set away from reaching the final.

In 2001, he lost to Baxter in the 2nd round. Baxter switched to the PDC right after and didn't make much of an impression.

I've clearly blanked those two events from my mind
Probably just as well.
Think he was about 9 each with Taylor before he engaged the turbo and blew him away.

According to Addicks Fan, with thanks, the tournament average was... http://www.tsod.tv/forum/viewtopic.php? ... 95#p784295

95.51. If that's true average, I don't know.
