Beaton's had decent versions of:

Burnett
Adams
Barney
Baxter
Fordham
Wallace
Part

Bunting's had:

An out of form Adams (ranked 28th heading into the event)
A yet to mature Duzza
Norris
Kong Green
Wilson
Dekker
Kist

Not much of a contest is it?

Comparing averages is pointless btw. The boards in 1996 were far more difficult to play on than the boards used in 2014.

Who Beaton beat in 1996:

Stompe
Part
Adams
Fordham
Burnett

All of whom averaged over 90 with the exceptions of Part who averaged 89 and Burnett who averaged 88

Who Bunting beat in 2014:

Widmayer
Prins
Hostra
Green
Norris

None of whom averaged over 90 with the exception of Norris who averaged 92. And that's on 2014 boards.

HJ, you are a fucking clown. Thorn-level posting.

All for the post count

Any questions?

Will HJ respond with:

1) Subjective

2) In the net

3) Fair enough, I was wrong

I think we all know which is least likely.

I will say this again Bunting winning the World Masters without dropping a set is one of the most underrated achievements in darts

Now he might not win a PDC title but he will have been a good consistent player around top 16-20. That should not be underestimated, it's a huge feat

2 of his opponents averaged in the low 80s (Remco and Harms)

Michael and Fitton averaged 89 and 90.

Wilson averaged nearly 94.

Hardly a field of killers is it?

It isn't that unique.

Ian White and Huybrechts both did similar in the PDC for almost a decade.

Beaton did similar for far longer.

Again, Bunting was considered a shoe-in to be ranked in the top 5 in the PDC when he switched. He's fallen well short of those expectations.

Yes and I appreciate the likes of White and Huybrechts as well. Considering Bunting has been doing it since about 2012 in the BDO he could easily go 2 decades. He is young.

No one ranks Bunting in the top 16 and no one suggested that. Nor that he would be a top 5 player in the PDC. You are shadowboxing. Fight me.

If you want to appreciate Bunting's PDC career as it stands, then hey go nuts. But it has fallen short of expectations.

Duzza's PDC career regardless of how short it was, did not.

I'd actually be tempted to argue that Bunting arrived in the PDC with higher expectations than Duzza too.

I got into darts in 2015, Premier League. First player I loved was Bunting because he smiles a bit when he throws. That's it. I will always love him. Therefore I wasn't aware at the time of his career nor did I have any expectations. I hoped he would remain a Premier League level player but alas it was not the case

Senna has nailed it. Bunting should have won more than he has in the pdc, 2 PCs is not enough for somebody of his ability

I agree, this is why I claim Bunting deserves a title
