Thursday 24th March 2005.

20 years ago yesterday. The first episode of the US version of The Office airs on NBC. The show is based on the UK original which aired on the BBC (2001-2003).

It will become a bit of a thing, running for 201 episodes, ending in May 2013.

I've seen the first 2 seasons. It's too humourless for my liking. Oh I've seen both the films too. Billy Connolly is in one of them. Columbo must have let him out.
Never got around to it.
Don't have the patience now

Saturday 26th March 2005.

20 years ago tonight. Doctor Who begins. The second time around. I vividly remember watching the first episode: 'Rose'.

There was a pullout inside that week's Radio Times.

This is precisely how it began on BBC1 that evening... it was famously a bit of a mess.

26th March 1989.

A lovely kitty was needed for the opening titles of Coronation Street.

The lad Teilo was considered very adorable but sadly choked at the last minute, digging a claw into Percy Sugden and legging it.

More strange comic strips. This week in 1991, from Fast Forward magazine.

Further strange comic strips, from that same magazine, this week in 1990.

Allo Allo, and... Brush Strokes?!

Friday 28th March 1997.

Good Friday. The Radio Times is reorganising its pages to prepare for the Channel 5 launch on Sunday.

A page of sci-fi news includes a Doctor Who comic strip. I think the evening's BBC line-up looks really good.

Sunday 30th March 1997.

28 years ago today. Easter Sunday 1997. The Channel 5 launch.

Now. I remember watching the end of that Last of the Summer Wine documentary.

I'm almost certain that these pages explain what I was watching when it started - the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix on ITV. Amazing.

Friday 31st March 1995.

What will win 'A Song For Europe' tonight and represent the UK at Eurovision 1995?

That is 8pm on BBC1. Someone underlined one of the songs. Presumably that's the one they voted for. Did it win?
