Saturday 18th May 1968. BBC1.

West Brom in the cup final. Well played oche.

Followed by Doctor Who, another missing episode, grumble grumble.

If I'm reading that right, the whole of Grandstand was on BBC1 and the match itself was also on BBC2 as a colour broadcast. The first FA Cup Final shown in colour.

About 3 seconds of the Doctor Who episode in that listing survives. It's the first clip on this vid.

In that vid is what was cut by the Australian censor. They edited the BBC's prints for their own broadcast. They were clearly more snowflakey than us solid British chaps.

They kept the bits they cut and incinerated the rest. The BBC destroyed theirs too of course. Tremendous. These are called 'censor clips' and are all that remain of this and many other episodes.

Sunday 18th May 1980.

Would you like a fizzy drinks maker?

An unusually big chunk of cricket on BBC2.

F1 coverage truly did used to be garbage. I've still not come across a race being shown in full.
