Just noticed that Dirk hails from a town with perhaps the strangest name ive ever heard of. 's-Gravenzande
Any of the Dutchies on here care to explain how a town with the first and third letters being an apostrophe and a hyphen came about?
Bump in case anyone has an answer. Rather fascinated. It looks like Randall was attempting to spell Lucozade.
Or Randy is off to Gravesend...
I found this...
It’s archaic short form for “des”, which means “of the”. “Grave” is a form of “graaf”, Count.
The most well-known example is The Hague, the city which is called ‘s-Gravenhage (though nowadays, officially simply “Den Haag”, as in English). The Hague basically means “the hedge” (around a park or hunting grounds), which from the 15th century was the Count’s; therefore, “the Count’s Hague”, or “des Graven Hage”, or… ‘s-Gravenhage.
Likewise, ‘s-Gravesande would be “des Grave sande”, “the Count’s sands”, and in Dutch, we just add those words together to make a longer one: “the Count’s sands street” is therefore ‘s-Gravesandestraat.
It is very archaic though (not that many Counts around nowadays… I only know two)… and it wreaks havock on most navigation systems, where the ‘ isn’t expected to be the first character of a street or city name.
Interesting. Thanks for the detective work.

Van Gerwen without a title during first four months of the season for first time since 2011
I like Webster but i'm not sure I see the selling point of him in that group. Must be a tag-on of an agent/manager of one of the others surely.
I'm not sure how a former world champ would fit into that group containing 2 other world champs either
Nothing against him or his credentials, just don't see him selling many tickets in comparison to the others. He's the Jason Orange of the group.
This. A breath of fresh air on comms, and I know dartitis sucks/my sympathies are there, but this is an exhibition - are people really going to pay to watch Webby struggle to release every single dart?
Even the ARTICLE seems to be taking the piss, only thing I see about his inclusion is just one line:
'Mark Webster has just been added to this great event.'
Uh....thumbs up I guess?

Webster was probably the next most famous player they coulda got, I’d guess him being a regular commentator now has boosted his reputation as well, I’d like to see him give the tour one more crack but it doesn’t sound like he fancies it atm

He will be earning more money from Sky than he would win on the tour, so I am not surprised that he is giving it a miss...

Van Barneveld works as bricklayer on repair work at home: 'Brick by brick we are getting to the final result'
Quite possible that the European Championships are played early November or maybe in the Grand Slam slot to buy time for Euro Tours. Either way the EC won't be at Halloween as usual, WSFs are in that slot.
