Not Meikle!! Fuck sake, bad enough me realising he's a DT qualifier for the Worlds and now this

I prefer the 64 to 32, nice to see more players and for more to have the chance at both the earning potential and tv time.

Darren Webster has replaced Mensur in the players championship

How can Webster go in at no 19 seed ? Surely Meikle should have gone in at 33 in Smith's place but was put in at 64 if that's the rule . Two players getting back door entry with totally different rules applied

3.6 If a player withdraws from a Premier Event due to personal or disciplinary reasons before the draw for the Event has been announced by the PDC, the next highest available non-qualified player from the Order of Merit (or if required in the case of the World Championship, the qualifying route) through which the unavailable player qualified will be invited to participate in the Event. In this instance, the players ranked below the unavailable player will all move up one place in the seedings, where appropriate.

3.7 If a player withdraws from a Premier Event due to personal or disciplinary reasons after the draw for the Event has been made, the next available non-qualified player from the relevant Order of Merit (or if required in the case of the World Championship, the qualifying route) through which the withdrawn player qualified will be invited to participate in the Event and will take the place of the withdrawn player directly in the draw with no alteration made to seedings if applicable. This does not apply to the UK Open where no replacement player shall be named.

Smith seemingly pulled out before the 18th when the PDC made the draw official on the website. Thats why they bunched everyone up for him, but not for Mensur. All perfectly within the rules, both the relevant rules posted above

Its still a draw they post on the website and is official from that point, players have to accept the invite and then the "draw" is done.

Seems very unfair , so technically if Wright had pulled out Webster could be no1 seed . Rule needs scrapping imo

Well no, he is just taking his spot, no sane person thinks he would be the top seed. Tennis works in exactly the same way, if Nadal pulled out of an event after the draw is done a lucky loser gets shoved straight in the draw in his spot. You cant expect them to rejig the draw everytime there is a pullout once its been done ffs.
