A successful tour it was, led by Richie Benaud.

"They've come promising really bright cricket. No more of that deadly 150 runs a day stuff that kept the public away in enormous numbers".
1961 says hi Rands.

The 1950s was marked by very defensive cricket. The 1960/61 West Indies Tour of Australia is often called the rebirth of attacking cricket under Richie Benaud and Frank Worrell.

Thursday 12th May 1988.
Radio Times letters page, followed by BBC listings.
Actually 5+ hours of live cricket on BBC2! 'Zonal Match'.
Loads going on here. That's the first series of ChuckleVision. Also look out for Top Gear presenters and specialist subjects on Mastermind.

I wonder what cricket they showed. It was something from the Benson & Hedges Cup: https://wisden.com/comp/1525/benson-and ... /results/2

The ChuckleVision repeat on BBC1 that afternoon. It was a very different show in its early days.
Also the Crimewatch ep from that night.

Re: TV listings from the olden days
An interesting letter on that letters page. People used to seethe in those days about stuff being shown on TV after it had been released on video.
£24.95 for a Hancock's Half Hour video in 1988. :O The equivalent of something like £65 today. Probably only 3 episode on it too.

...it would have looked something like this one. There were 6 Hancock videos released in 1985 on both VHS and Betamax.

David Frost for Botham and Willie Rushton for Sobers. Do you remember the series generally or that one in particular?
I find one ep on youtube.
