The masses never spot a thing. They all need to be told on an individual basis or put Uncle Des on Strictly.

Perhaps we are too into the sport but if you have even a passing interest you will know about it. I'm not that into Golf but i know about the LIV Tour.

Which was the last Lakeside on CH4? Was it 2018 or 2019? I seem to recall that the O2 fiasco was only shown on Eurosport and perhaps Quest.

I think the final CH4 Lakeside was the final time amateur darts had any sort of wider appeal. I would wager that many of those who watched say the Duzza vs Noppert final in 2017 were unaware of the WDF event at Lakeside last year, let alone watched it.

You're right.

Just checked and the 2019 version was only on Eurosport/Quest.

To the mass populous who don’t watch darts generally. They wouldn’t know about the split or any of the players. True story, a few years ago I was part of 4 couples who went to the PL in Sheffield and one of the people had no interest about darts but said “ Is Wolfie playing”
Unless you have any casual interest in darts, the average person would hardly be able to name any players.

Yes probably. You could set your watch by BBC-BDO-January for decades which was precious for the event and the mass awareness of it.

I have missed it each January. Wayne Warren's butt crack is the last time I smiled.

Having it in April was rubbish. It mixed very badly with sunshine so December will be far better time for it. Thing is though it was the presence of the BDO itself that provided the comedy and that isn't coming back. Which is great news for darts but bad news for lolseekers. So yes I do miss it but I'm also glad it's dead.
