Van Gerwen thrives on confidence. His elite scoring is virtually back, and it's been enough to win the Premier League and World Matchplay, despite inconsistency on the doubles. The genie is almost out of the bottle. The key part of the final tonight was Price going from 6-4 up to 9-5 up but not holding for 10-5, instead going to 9-6. After that, Price badly needed a spurt of top form at 11-9 or 13-12 and didn't get it.

Great result to a great tournament

Price has been so poor all year this was always on the cards unfortunately

I mean it was a great tournament, but it would have been better if Jim Williams had been in it.

Did not watch as much as I wanted, but some matches were great, one of the best MP in recent years.

At the risk of posting like Emu, I don't think Randall even likes darts these days.

I mean, if you think this tournament was just "okay" and not "vintage", you are either a massive mushroom (Oche), have weird preferences (HJ), or just don't like darts in general.

I thought it was a great Matchplay... I love the tournie anyway, but apart from a few mediocre 1st round matches, which you will always get, especially with a few relative newbies, it was very enjoyable....

Quarter finals onwards was superb

The schedule is stale and there are too many tournaments I don't give a toss about.

But this past week's event was exceptional.

If I get to a stage where I can see the scoreboard it might help
