That was more so they could tie it in with the rugby grand final aye.
The Worlds final always has a PL game on before it for the same reason. Keep the audience.

Darts events as TV shows indeed. External broadcasters have ideas about how to build a night of telly and if that means squishing a miniaturised Grand Prix Final into Super League Grand Final night then the PDC sort of have to lump it (or show it on a service they fully control).

Players like MvG rate it very high, whereas Malt's boys probably don't

Yeah f you're putting in the miles travelling the UK/Europe to play the world's best for big money week in week out it's easy to see how the players would consider the PL as a giant piece of their life and a huge title.

Just one more thing.

If anyone wants a go at plotting the fall of the BDO Worlds from a solid 100 in 1993 to about -45 in 2020, please let's see that for a laugh.

Worth a bump as the subject has come up in another thread. This is how we graded them in relation to each other in March 2022.

That order is just about right. The grand prix is losing its shine to me. Its a bit dull after the the first couple of rounds
