All-time:

Taylor (2010 version)
MVG (2016 version)
Headshaker (2007 version)
Adi Lewis (2011 version)
Gary Anderson (2011 version)
James Wade (2009 version)
Rob Cross (2019 version)
Peter Wright (2019 version)
Dave Chisnall (2015 version)
Gerwyn Price (2020 version)

All were picked based on ability with the exception of the 2020 version of Price, who didn't even qualify for finals night. Still, it didn't seem right to exclude Price in favour of inferior players like Duzza and Bully Smith.

Last year was the worst I can remember
Last years league phase was good but not sure if it was just easier to stay engaged as it was night after night where usually by the time one Thursday rolls around I have mostly forgotten what has happened the week(s) before especially of there has been an ET in between. The finals night was an absolute disaster though and that's what most sporting events are remembered by.
The finals night was the turd atop the cake
agreed about the turd and the impact of finals in rating a season. The one final that really stands out to me is the 2010 Philth hitting 2 9darters against Wade to win.
2013 final night with MvG beating Philth for his first PL title
2015 final night all the matches were pretty damn good and Gando beating MvG both avg 105 or something.
