Between 1912 and 1948 the Olympics used to give out medals in art.
Literature
Architecture
Sculpture
Painting and music were the categories
Altogether 151 medals were awarded
Still far more sensible than some of today's Olympic events
Got Breakdancing to look forward to soon
Really?
2024. Along with skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing.
Sign of the times

The French foreign legion is famed worldwide
Much of its legend began at the battle of Cameron in 1863
A unit of 65 legionnaires were confronted and surrounded up to 3000 Mexican troops.
The commander went to every man to get an assurance they would fight to the death.
As officers fell and lesser ranks took command they were repeatedly offered the chance to surrender
At the end the battle and with only 5 legionnaires left and no ammunition they mounted a bayonet charge.
Eventually the last 3 were physically taken prisoner
When the 3 were presented In Milan and the commander asked if these were the only men left of the command he replied " these are not men, they are demons"

Good fact that.
