Very average where Chizzy is concerned.

As depressing as this is, I think it's spot on.
that said the others are still learning, if mensur can break through maybe gurney can.

What's anyone's track record on this topic?

At the time that Taylor beat Manley 7-0 (again) in the 2006 World Final to win his bloody 11th in 12 years and all hope seemed lost, who were you tipping to become a first time world champion?

Back then almost everyone would have said Lewis I'm sure?

I thought it would only be a matter of time before Lewis won it. In fact I wouldn't have believed he'd win as few as 2 of the next 11. You could see he was special.

Wade was only just about on the radar at that point. The other 'young' prospects would have been: Lloyd, Mardle, Painter, Dudbridge, Mason.

Sid tipped them all. Any luck?

In a Taylor free world, or the bdo any of them could have won.

^Which is one thing I've always loved about the PDC Worlds. It's almost impossible to win, which is just how it should be. Meaningful.

Must have been fifteen or more winners of the bdo crown in the same period.

At this point in time Gurney's the only one I see winning a World's. Then with a decent run of results can't rule out Krusty

While there actually isn't a 1-time world champion on the PDC roll of honour. If you count a Barney BDO win, that is. Priestley won a unified one of course.

First-time champs Lewis, Anderson and MVG have all doubled up. In fact they've won 2 each of the last 7, with Lord Pheel nabbing the odd one.

Can't see how you forgot about the cow botherer.
He spouts his bile about being world champion every other week.

In January 2006? So this is before Barney switched, so Lloyd was the most likely. Manley and Mardle other possibilities, way ahead of Lewis at the time.

Wade had Lewis' number on TV for some time, until draftgate. Wade knew how to win majors when Taylor didn't, too.

PT13, you are a sensible fellow. What do you make of Chizzy's chances of winning the world's? Considering he battered your man at his best into oblivion at the world's before, surely the chances are high.

Chizzy has all the talent needed to thrash the best players when he's at his best, but his mental side is very suspect. He's also prone to inconsistency with his darting standard. Chizzy needs to sort out the problems, but he has the talent to be world champion. The probability of him actually becoming world champion is still low at this time, though.

Peter Wright is considerably closer at present. Wright has a few mental hurdles that he can't seem to get over, but he is far more consistent with his darting standard than Chizzy.
