Seems that Dave's going through a bit of an experiment. Do sport on the cheap and see where it goes

No problem still 21 weeks away. Give them 17 weeks to find a venue, then 3 weeks to to do the TV deal, and 1 week to find sponsors and promote the event with all the details. Why mess with the BDO formula of success, aka fly by the seat of your pants.

Was Dave's coverage all that great? or was it that BBC was so piss poor and dated and mainly dragged down because the likes of clueless Tony Green that anything other than BBC was going to be looked at positively? I don't know honestly.

I think if the standard of darts is good and the games are interesting, and a good exciting atmosphere is evident in the product I think regardless of bad commentating and ignorant presenters the darts would be watched. Who is watching darts for commentators, walk on girls, presenters and crowd costumes? Granted these items if done well add to a nicer product and probably affect some marginal viewers tuning in or not. But I doubt it has much of an effect on the core of the dart fans. I suspect the quality of the matches is what keeps them watching or not. Again I could be wrong, just not convinced that Dave was all that the mushrooms keep singing on about. just a skeptical F.A.C I guess

I know the players bought it as well, but surely no one is so thick to still believe in it. ?

My guess is they are telling themselves over and over in the hope they might convince themselves or simply dream stupidly it will happen.

Look at the bdo in 1993 and look at them 23 year later and they lost bbc, lost any talent they had, all this while the PDC which was always better just improves year on year.
The bdo are in a worse place now than they were 20 years ago

melted plastic bag face was right about one thing, something we all said prior, in that daves coverage did put the bbc efforts to shame.
Proof the bbc really did not give a flying fuck about the bdo and who could blame them

And with the PDC having set up the youth and challenge tours, it's only going to get worse for the BDO. They can't even claim to be bringing through the next generation of stars anymore. If any organisation now only cares about a certain group of players it's them.

All they have is "international" darts which is so important it's never on TV. The pinnacle.

Now now, we all know the best darts is not on TV, it's down your local boozer where Dave the Dealer takes on Fat Mick in a 5 leg 3 hour long classic, rout said so.
