Re: Cheltenham Races
Used to watch a lot of horse racing but only because my dad and grandad were obsessed with it to the point of even owning a horse at one time. Dad was from the countryside so he loved all that shite.
Didn't mind going to the races (Chepstow was fun, and Jersey), but was bored senseless watching it on TV.
I tend not to bet on it now because I just don't trust the sport. Fixing seems rife.

I enjoy the jump racing but the flat bores me to tears. Cheltenham's the cream with top quality fields every day

going to the track is different.
Been to the track on many occassion with the wife and previously with pub day outs. A gamble few pints big feed etc, grand day out.
mother in law watches the racing channel constantly and dont gamble , mainly cos she loves horses, now iI like animals but to me thats just demented

Re: Cheltenham Races
Cheltenham's not known as the punter's graveyard for nothing. The crafty paddys slip a horse in with no chance and make a killing

Re: Cheltenham Races
It is a poorer spectacle, but with the jump racing, I've always been uncomfortable with the fact that horses should have to die for our own entertainment. Some of those fences at the Grand National are brutal.Mark wrote:Same, can't see why anyone would want to go and watch flat racing.M H wrote:I enjoy the jump racing but the flat bores me to tears. Could have some effect on the ground.
Too many days lost to weather in the past and too much revenue lost to risk again.

The corporate hostility tents will probably be serving from about 10:00 so they'll all be shitface before the first race.D & B wrote:Fucking freezing, will be even colder at the racecourse.

Re: Cheltenham Races
It'll be fight night tonight as the locals hit the town along with the race goers.
I shall be enjoying the spectacle, though I'm sure it won't reach the heights of the riots at the PL last night.
