Yes, I was wrong when I said he wouldn't win a TV title. But the standard was piss-poor all night.

He averaged below 89 for the night. Prime Taylor would have gobbled him up no problem. As would many other players if they played something like.
Taylor gobbling up people no problem was not a good thing (for me). Don't turn into some old man going on and on about former players - that's what we have Randall for and we're thinking of getting rid of him.

So now we may only discuss things that Duzza is bothered by?

Anyone see the Middlesbrough game the other night?

The problem with last night's games was the quality of them.

For the Premier League Playoffs, the standard was dire. The worst it has been in the tournament's history.

Given the choice between Taylor averaging in the late 90s and early 100s and dominating the competition, or 4 players averaging in the mid-80s to early 90s and falling over themselves, I would choose the former.

It felt like no one wanted to win the title yesterday.

Yes that's fine but Taylor himself is irrelevant to Duzza winning the 2020 Premier League. All titles in the history of darts look dubious in the context of Taylor.

Tear apart the active players to your heart's content. I 100% agree with you that someone should have stopped Glen last night. It was hopeless.

I have hope that Price will retain his current form and/or MVG will regain his. Or perhaps Asp will step up a gear.

If not, we are heading for a very weak era in terms of playing standards. If a PL can be won with a 89 average, especially on these boards, then what does it say about the current crop of players?

Sure, last night was dire but don't make it out as if that's the standard now. The Matchplay semis and finals for example had averages between 92 and 98. The late rounds of the WGP were very respectable too with the exception of one horrible Shitlock performance. The PL finals were an outlier. None of the players performed even at their usual average standard. If we get the same 4 players in the last 4 again, I'd say the standard will be from decent to great at least 80% of the time. There are a few outliers but they do happen with someone dominating as well.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

They are all better than that
Something is dragging them down
Just maybe it is the set up.

I think you're overreacting to an evening of darts to an insane extent. Price and MVG had a tournament average of 99 and didn't even make the play-offs.

Price's average in the Grand Prix final was the lowest of any winner since 2012.

Dimi's average in the Matchplay final was the lowest of any winner since 2007 (barring Cross the year before).

Price's averaged in the World Series final was the lowest of any winner in the tournament's history.

It's clearly easier than ever to win a TV title.

Other than a few games where he produced his best stuff, MVG was averaging in the mid-90s when the PL resumed in August.

On that form, he would have probably cleaned up on finals night had he made it that far. But alas, he didn't.
