I really like that actually. I don't think a PL plave should be up for the winner but World Series places is an excellent idea.
Great idea, I'd definitely support that, but I can't see Sky promoting qualifiers for an ITV event. Don't think the winner would warrant a Grand Slam place when Euro tour winners might already be missing out. Not sure what the other incentive could be.

I wonder if they'd chuck 8 women in to a knockout for one of the Grand Slam places. Especially if the Indigo didn't happen and no one was entering as womens world champion.

I would put my house on there being no contenders.
The only Mervert in town.

Perhaps the winner of that tournament gets a reserved spot in next year's Premier League? That would guarantee that there will be some changes.
Besides, it ensures that the PDC will pick some contenders that they actually think have a shot of participating with the big boys, not playing them yet, but the best one will play them every week.

Yeah I think the problem with that is, you could get someone who's totally off form, the PL finishes in May. Out of this years' contenders for example, it's really only Dobey and Durrant who are anywhere near the PL standard consistently. Dimitri and De Zwaan have potential too but they are far too erratic.

It would make sense, but in that case I think the PDC should choose the next 8 in line, not just young players. Something like Wade, Lewis, Mensur, White, Ratajski, Dobey, De Zwaan, Dimitri. (Assuming of course Durrant gets the 10th spot and Wade misses out) But I don't know if the well established players would really like that.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

No Wade is going to improve Thursday nights a lot.

I kind of hope Gurney smashes Duzza now so he doesn't get in either. I like him but his pace is a bit ploddy for the PL ideally.
Don't worry. Duzza will be in this time around.

Most likely, especially seeing as at the time it will be announced he will still be the reigning BDO Champ.

I don't think the time gap is that big of an issue. Winning the UK Open effectively locks you in for a PL place almost 12 months ahead of time for example.

Sure but that's a major, while this proposed tournament would mean 3 short format games for the winner. Massive difference there

Rest assured that Sherrock will be pencilled in as one of the contenders....

Whilst for the places there will be a fiercer competition now....

MVG 100%
Cross 100%
Price 100%
Smith 100%
Gurney 100%
Wright 100%
Aspinall 100%
Anderson 90%
Chisnall 90%
Durrant 80%
Take Chizzy out, I can see them giving it to Durrant and then the one contender.

I thought Chizzy was nailed on but if there are only 9 spots, not so much. Next game up between Durrant and Gurney could be absolutely crucial, think even Gurney isn't 100% in now.
