He's probably right about the middle part, although even he doesn't quite seem to know who Schena is fronting for, not necessarily the Williamses.
That's never happened before, has it..................

Pretty sure that one actually took place back when they rejected Hearn's offer.

To be fair, I think she invented real legal advice in the Deluxe saga. This time she seemingly just claimed to have it, but didn't even bother to have a solicitor produce such a letter on her/the BDO's behalf.
The funny part is that apparently nobody except the two affected (Thompson and Tony Martin) saw anything iffy about it. Seems Sue has a lot of the delegates in the palm of her hands, or at least did previously, and can basically tell them whatever she wants.

I have an email from the solicitor stating she instructed him to give her the advice in order to avoid a meeting.

Hi Derek,
I introduce myself as Admin at
www.thedartsforum.com we’ve been following Mr Brown and the BDO board’s activities with some interest.
May I ask you one question which is is the attached letter genuine? Was it sent by you?
It appears Mr Brown is trying to gag the board if this is the case?
Best regards
Martin Hamill
PS; Coincidentally I have a brother called Derek
The response:
Dear Martin,
Thank you for your email.
I am happy to confirm that, yes, the letter is genuine and, yes, it was sent by me.
My client in this matter is the British Darts Organisation Enterprises Limited (“BDO”). I do not act for, and have never acted for, Deluxe Sports Club Limited. I have never met or spoken to Warren Brown.
Yours sincerely,
Derek Hamill

Enjoying Candidate Roger's idea about the BDO:
the future possibility of a subscription service in order to view events.
Is he having a larff? Mushrooms do absolutely sod all.

So, I'm just catching up. Chizzy might be in the running to run the BDO.

I'm amused to see the Schena proposal use the PDC terminology "Premier Events" to refer to Lakeside etc., the BDO actually calls them "Special Events". Can somebody point that out to the Fanatics and insinuate that he's a Hearn front?

They were already willing to believe it due to his Chisnall association.
That aside, there's nothing in his document that hasn't been stated as goals for the BDO a hundred times before. He'd just be the next Barry Gilbey if elected.

Bottom line here is there's no big plan possible for the BDO, they haven't got a product fit for purpose and the market.
As soon as they get it and focus on county the sooner they will actually progress and cease to be the source of comedy gold they are

This is what needs to happen to keep the BDO viable in this day and age.
Stop trying to be professional and focus on the grassroots. BICC, Super League, all the associated bollocks: focus on that.
(Un)fortunately the people at the top of the BDO are deluded numpties who still think they can compete with an organisation the size of the PDC.

The BDO AGM is today apparently? Why it says August 5th on their calendar, who knows.
The game's comedy wing could have a different lead clown soon...

The BDO isn't old enough for 100 years of futility yet.
Fiss Plaps wrote:(Un)fortunately the people at the top of the BDO are deluded numpties who still think they can compete with an organisation the size of the PDC.
I don't think they see it as "competing with the PDC", for them it's more "a proud organisation like ours deserves to have that" (i.e. a professional wing) and they don't even question if any part of that attitude is actually appropriate anymore. They're hopelessly stuck in the past, the whole lot of them. Even the Schena document struck that tired note again (about Lakeside etc.): "We have the players and the system in place, and they deserve better."

Do we all feel like hitting ourselves in the head over this all? We all know the "pro" end of the BDO is dead, yet they keep trying to cater for a diminishing number of people who actually don't deserve better because they are entertaiing enough.

Weekly Dartscast podcast. From 43:43, interview with Roger Schena:
Sounds a tad dazed, I don't think he has a single actual idea in his head...
