That was the silliest thing he said. Averages at Lakey were mostly higher pre-barneys departure, although I think the PDC had more players which get the average down. It still was a proper championship. I think I once calculated the last 16 or so from both championships during multiple years, and from very early one after the PDC was created the BDO was higher again. Taylor was better, but also had an easier way to the finals

These are the numbers I could find, they are a average of every average thrown in a certain round (from Wiki). Probably a lot closer than most people will think. And if we can believe the youtubers PDCs trebles were also a tad bit bigger
