Then anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows why they will defend it, its seen as something personal, it fills the void in the miserable existence.
Sad lonely desperate people need a sense of belonging, and the bdo gimps find that sense of belonging and solace in each other, its like a comfort zone for them.

So no surprise then they feel personally threatened why that bdo is criticized, their under developed mind coupled with their immaturity forces them to lash out of retreat.Its like silence or anger, and the inability to listen or comprehend reason, spouting the same old rhetoric and mantra repeatedly thinking they might not only convince others but deep down hoping the can convince themselves.
