It’s an open “relationship”.

The Snooker World Grand Prix is on this week, for the top 32 players on the Ranking list for this season only.

For those not familiar, this is a Series that has been going a few years now, currently sponsored by Cazoo. It is followed by the Players Championship for the top 16, and the Tour Championship for the Top 8.

All 3 are Ranking events and the money counts for the following tournaments Qualification as well.

I'm just spitballing here, but I reckon it would be good if darts had a similar series late in the Season. You could have the World Grand Prix as the first event, ditching the Double Start. Then use the Euros and PC Finals slots for the other 2 events.

Maybe you would need 64, 32 then 16 players for darts, rather than 32, 16 and 8. Particularly as dumping the PC Finals would impact 33-64 ranked players the most.

But those Jobbers already get TV time at the World's, more than they do at the PC Finals anyway as they are mostly stuck on Board 2.

But I think overall it would be a much better way to end the Season than how it currently goes.
