Grouping

Post by DrZoidberg » Mon Jan 02, 2012 4:17 pm

following on from D&B's doubles thread, does anyone have any tips on how to improve the grouping of the darts?

is it just muscle memory or is there anyway to work on it?

my favourite score at the moment seems to be T20, wire D5, T1.

and if no one has any advice to give, does anyone have simon whitlocks number? he seems to be shithot at it.

Im a muscle memory man. If the first goes in, the other two tend to be pretty much there or there abouts. Whereas if the first is wayward, as per usual, then its a bloody battle to not follow it.

I throw quite slowly and deliberately, far from smooth, and just try to aim each dart the same. If they are well grouped it is either because they are equally good, or more often, equally bad

depends what day it is :D

what does piss me off tho is if my 1st dart is say 1 inch above the 60, so i aim an inch lower, and it ends up an inch under the treble. so if id just thrown the same id have got a 60, if you get my drift. im also very good at hitting 5's when ive got 80 with two darts and im thinking just make sure of the ton.

i have hit 54 1st dart when i was on a 164 in a match. needless to say i wasn't going for it. never got the finish either.

we've always called this oldie exercise "horsefeathers".
throw your first dart anywhere you please, don't think too much about where on the board, just hurl it.
now toss the next one at the spot of where the point of the the first dart is in the board.
you want to hit, click, or brush against the first dart.
with your third dart throw right in the middle of that mess.
did they all touch? alright! horsefeathers!
not a very good game, but good for getting your grouping together.

when i shank my dart in the 18s(regularly), it always wires or goes bang into the T18. makes me look as if im switching perfectly.

I seem to misfire into tops, outer bull and treble 12 when I make a slip up
I wished for this, I bitched at that

Outer bull is my favoured slip too when I pull a dart. As long as you nod your head after, you can pretty much get away with it looking intended.

Yeah It's all in your reaction. I have been on 120 before and the first dart slipped into tops, I thought "why not eh?" 2nd one in tops, 3rd one slipped into the t20 I looked a right cunt!

What you should have done when the 3rd went into the treble was find someone who was eating a bag of crisps and shot them a glare.

when you have fluked a dart into t18 its important to throw the next one in that general area to give the impression it was deliberate.
