And I don't mind Cross.
But he's been wank this premier league.
Could have a big affect on him.

It won't happen.

More chance they will do a seniors tournament at some point.

Agree with Mardle, post on here saying is MVG in trouble, I think he is, all over the place, wildly inconsistent, some of his darts are nearer the next county, not sure what's happened to him
Banked enough to be sorted for life and seems to have enough sensible people around him, his wife and still very close to his parents, that that isn't a situation he will blow, and as a result he gives a shit about less and less tournaments every year. Doesn't seem like this was high enough on his agenda to out in the practice for, probably though he could cruise into the top 4 and take it from there.

Stefan lord?
Why?
Wasn’t Stefan Lord the first player from outside the U.K. that achieved something in the game. He won two news of the world titles which was a big deal back in the day.
What if he was?

If the contenders format comes back unchanged next year, that'd be pretty dull IMO. You want to pick the best possible players as contenders but then you usually end up with the same 10-12 suspects. I would really like some change, I don't have a clue though as to what. The PDC has the numbers, we don't so it's hard to say how much of a success it's been. The whole thing is just an exbo at the end of the day.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

It sounds excellent, that. They could call it 'Good Lord'. Or 'Jesus fucking Christ' which is what I prefer.

The PL is a massive money maker. And yes it is an exbo. But it is an exbo that generates big money for the players especially via sponsors to the players. It is alot of TV time. That is one of the main reasons players deem it so important.

Yes contenders was a winning formula year one. Mainly due to the quality and competitiveness. This year it was a bit of a stinker but it is an odd year so I wouldn't put much stock in it. As one who thought the contenders was a bad idea I would give it another year. Next year is going to be crap shoot to with covid. This thing is going to be with us another year. Don't expect massive crowds to be showing up. TV money has become even more important than ever to the PDC.

PL is always going to feel a little stale to the die hard darting nerds. But in the last couple years there has been a bit more turn over so not a bad thing. But they are going to watch anyways so that isnt the market you have to worry about, as much.

Which is why it should be replaced with a women's match or something similar (not a game where a regular PL player is playing someone else)

Options.

1. Go back to your run of the mill 10 players 5 games a night (rather dull)

2. have the 5th game be a women's match (for standard wise it would have to be a rotation of 4 women only with a running league table)

3. A "Legends" match

4. Play the World Youth Championships down to a last 16 prior to the start of the PL and from there have one game per PL night from the last 16 onwards on a big stage in front of a crowd to gain both experience for the players and expose the audiences both live and tv to the "next generation". (don't know how Rodders has't already pushed this one) Might have to have a week or two gap between some rounds to schedule it so that the World Youth Final would be on PL Finals night.

Order of preference personally would be 2 closely followed by 4 then a bit of a gap to 3 and way behind is 1.

3 is just milking a cow that's already been milked in terms of exposure but I can see the merit to it but think it's just something fun for the same fans and not much scope for bringing new eyes or "growing the game"

I think darts fans would like 4 but not sure how much added interest it would bring from people who wouldn't be watching anyway.

If growing the game and bringing new exposure/interest/audiences is the idea then I think 2 (the best women) is the best option.

First glad to see you have now adopted "stale" :D

Secondly, yes you're right that 2021 unless things are back to normal would not be the year to try something new as it would be wasted and better to hold fire. If it was to be like this year with no crowds then just the 10 best players is the go-to I think.

I get that the TV experience is going to be particularly important to Sky next year, but without the crowds (and I'll include Hendo in that, the change in venue in Aberdeen did him no favours at all) these contenders really couldn't do it unfortunately, and surely that takes away from the TV experience. With Aspinall and Van den Bergh 'graduating' from contendership to main event, that's a positive I guess, fresh blood in the actual league, but they do need to have some new names if they are going to carry on with the contenders. A few names there that definitely need fucking off, a few that, as long as their home venue stays on the calendar are certs, but I guess the problem is, what other 'up and comers' would really add interest to the competition? Ricky Evans with his antics and occasional brilliance? Scraping the barrel a bit
