The ethos of both sites are entirely different Joe and I don't know where or how the rumour started.

there was never any real rumours of the sites joining joe. oche said the teams were playing together at cotf, and sharky read it that the forums were rejoining post haste, and responded with a large tirade about how MH is the devil etc etc, and he will never let him get his hands on his baby. he then said lots of things like funny like that me, blah blah blah

Friday, the 5 players from DF and 5 players from TDF (Or were down to play for the said forum) decided in order to be competitive that we should merge together to form 1 team to take on Dartsforum.co.uk (Dartscorner), This was agreed with no Objections from anyone at the event.
