He had fuck all pressure on it being 5-0 up in a race to 6 sets
you're forgetting about the pressure of the Lakeshite stage mate.

Just looked, it was 180 121. At 5-5 with Mensur on an easy finish. Proof Chizzy has bottle.

Good topic to think about. Barry and the lads are genius at putting it in a pretty box but the natural capacity for drama in a game of darts is a gift that they could never have dreamt up. The perfect kit for making great stories when the darts aren't falling out and the lights stay on.

Need to know if a few of my speculations are correct!

Taylor's 132 to win the 2008 World Matchplay final. An incredible match, well over 100 averages, with Taylor turning a 4-7 deficit into an 18-9 win.
Randall wrote:Didn't Taylor check 131 to seal the game against Whitlock in 2010?
Yes.
Randall wrote:I've got in mind that Manley took out something big to take out Taylor in Blackpool 99?
Yes. I can't remember what exactly. I think it was either 124 or 128, definitely finishing on the bull. In the final against Harrington, Manley narrowly missed what would have been the craziest 9-dart finish of all time. Needing 144, Manley hit treble 18, double 20, and narrowly missed the bull.
Randall wrote:Seem to recall Nicho checking 170 against Taylor in his players championship win with Taylor Sat on tops or 32?
Nicholson took out a lot of 100+ outshots in that match. Clinical finishing, to win 10-9, breaking Taylor's throw in the last leg.

And the other 170 checkout to win a major. Colin Lloyd against John Part to win the 2005 World Matchplay final.

Scott Rand with a 170 out to beat Barney a few years back after pausing and looking back at the crowd after the first two darts.

Had a look on YouTube.
They have a clip of Tony ayers checking 152 against Wade at 8-9 down in a race to ten that fits the bill.
Looked to have been in Bolton one year.

A great moment. I can't recall Ayres ever doing anything else significant.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

The end of this final was quite brutal. 23mins. Only one treble but a great bull shot. Benito averaged about 110 in this, poor bugger.

You'll see me in the crowd if you look carefully.

Fair play to the Gentle, that 160 check is one surely right up there among the best. What a leg to close a tournament. Mensur, Mensur uber alles...

This is that last leg in full, both in full flow, crowd going potty, players respecting each other, the best.

Vassos pissing his pants at darts of this quality. Was it just me or did he seem slightly more tolerable over this tournament rather than his BDO stints?
