The mensur 160....

Post by Randall » Mon Sep 18, 2017 2:45 pm

Was this the greatest check out ever?

A huge check with his opponent sat on 32 after 9.
Yes, we have seen incredible finishes before but in those circumstances?

Dellars 138 is the only comparable one I can think of?

I know I am going to be castigated for saying this, and the man is still an utter cunt, but the Mitchell 158 in the first leg of the deciding set of the Adams/Mitchell Lakeside final was the match winner, IMO.

I think Adams had a small leave to come back to as well. Didnt win another leg in the match after that.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

Taylors impossible bull inevitably comes to mind, it was to win but not the same circumstance.

If you are after an aesthetically pleasing finish rather than a "great" one, the 132 Taylor hit in the last leg of the Matchplay final a few years back was amazing.

Hit the 25 first, blocked the entire bull off. Still went for T19 anyway and then somehow hit the bull. Fuck all pressure on it though, he was miles ahead.

EDIT - fuck you Randall!

Fair point.

I can remember Ando hitting a huge 170 checkout in the 2016 World final, against Lewis. It was still like 5-4 or something so he might have won anyway but it turned the match in his favor massively.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Oh and the 141 for the second 9 darter against Wade, that was special and a once in a lifetime event.

No memory of the Anderson 170.
Didn't Taylor check 131 to seal the game against Whitlock in 2010?

I've got in mind that Manley took out something big to take out Taylor in Blackpool 99?

In the 2007 Purfleet final, Barney hit a 129 checkout to break the throw when he was something like 3-1 down in sets and 2-1 down in legs, with Taylor on a low outshot. A more impressive checkout under the circumstances than the earlier fourth set winning 170 (which is more remembered).

Doesn't have the high level circumstances you might want, but in a big TV Quarter-Final...

This year's UK Open, White and Price at 9-9. White is killing Price in the decider, comes to the board needing 20 for the match. Puts his first dart in D15, busts.

Price takes out 160 to save it and to win it. Shocking. Place was jumping, commentators screaming, Price rubbing it in like fuck. One of the best matches this year without a doubt.

Seem to recall Nicho checking 170 against Taylor in his players championship win with Taylor Sat on tops or 32?

Chizzy had a mighty finish to beat Mensur in (I think) the euro championship. Think it was a 180 161 in a deciding leg. Taylor said it was one of the best ends to a match he had seen.

Ted Hankey hit a 170 to win the 2000 Lakeside. Biggest checkout possible to win a world title takes some beating.
