Rugby World Cup
Anyone going to watch this? starts on the 7th Sep i think.
I see the squads were picked yesterday although i'll admit i haven't a clue about any of the Scottish players but i'll no doubt still watch them get beat next month.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Last game as well, we should qualify in second i would have thought although the Argies might be a tricky match.

No way will Scotland beat Argentina - they are a much improved side.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Can't wait for this. Last time it was in the Southern Hemisphere (2003) I have many happy memories of rocking up at the pub at 8.00am for a massive fry up and a few pints.
As far as the matches go, Pool D is going to be an absolute belter, elsewhere it's relatively clear who'll get out of the group. Scotland on the up and the Argies on the decline and without Hernandez, I can see the Scots edging it and qualifying second. I think that means they get the All Blacks in the quarters though, so cheerio at that point.
My money is on England NZ final and NZ to edge it - we don't have enough adaptability in the midfield, and we've picked 4 centres who just blast it. Very good, but not the sort of dynamism which wins the key games. We need a Will Greenwood, or for Brian O'Driscoll to decide he's English.
Bring it on! Proper sport.

Re: Rugby World Cup
A couple of famous capitualtions, both against France 1995 (Lomu Year) and 2007 I think. Both occasions they were by far the best team in the world, and blew it.Dartfrog wrote:Fair do's. Still probably not enough for a team with their rep though.randall wrote:once in 87? i think?
Can't see it happening this year, on home soil.

In '95, they got to the final against SA. They capitulated against France in 99 at Twickenham. Great game.J Y Kelly wrote:A couple of famous capitualtions, both against France 1995 (Lomu Year) and 2007 I think. Re: Rugby World Cup
i remember the 95 final very well.
in that emotional maelstrom there was only ever going to be one winner, all blacks were fighting destiny that day.
