8.1 I believe mate and you should now have the option to start in desktop mode instead of tiles

Just about impossible to buy anything decent without it having it unfortunately. The machine itself is brilliant if only you could have Windows 7 and not this abomination!

Dunno - deleted that all that shit without even looking at it.

I just can't believe for a new machine just how many updates I had to retrieved. Including updating to Windows 8.1 it was something like 4.8 Gb! Fuck me when I started work I thought an Amstrad PC with a 10Mb hard disk was the dogs bollocks!

I have to say the machine itself is a delight to use and I really don't give a toss about the operating system all I want to do is be able to use the software on it without Windows getting in the fucking way all the time.

8.1 fixes it and gives you back the desktop and start button

Aye and every time I click on the start button it takes me back to that godforsaken Metro thing. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it in the end - I'm just getting too old for new versions of Windows. There should be a dispensation for us oldies.
