Re: WDF Season 2025
Big up Fatum!
Record entries they mentioned when they were at 140 or so, now they are in the 160s, so that is a good thing

In North America they are more polite and call it the "Consolation Bracket".

Re: WDF Season 2025
Weekly Dartscast
17:50 Nick rolls
My feeling based of what he said is that Beau won't be at the Lakeside. Prize money down?
WM sets is a discussion, not of the table
They got a lawyer for the transgender thingy
Conversation with Lakeside, hopefull of new deal (should already be done!!!!!)
Looking closely to remove one or two of the afternoon sessions, talking about the ones who currently not on sale... So its not a done deal, but he seems to be keeping it open in case a tv deal comes, and they need time for ads. Without a tv deal for the sessions before the last weekend I think the afternoons are gone.
Oche mentioned!
Unsure about the height of the prize money, depending on tv/sponsors
Under negotiation with 3 tv companies

Re: WDF Season 2025
From what i got from the interview
- More or less conceded that Beau will not be at Lakeside this year
- Positive about the Youth, More tournaments for them in coming years
- Transgender issue seems to be a pain due to where they are based more than anything
- Lakeside deal renewal is interesting (If it happens) Barrs, Mason have stated due to will readings this won't happen
- Rolls wants one leg/One set for the 2 main tournaments, So World Masters will stay as it is but i asked a question about a hybrid tournament wasn't mentioned
- Dropping sessions is a must, Players should drop down too (But WDF obviously want to offer chances rather than have the best quality possible)
- 3 TV Companies. Interesting but will this be full tournament or partial. it needs to be full
- Prize Money answer suggests that it could be anything and we will know more later this year
- A missed chance to mention about the ADC Global and Nick Rolls reaction to the news etc.
A good interview, Nick Rolls interviews well and i believe Barrs will be interviewing him in a few weeks

Re: WDF Season 2025
Beau not playing would open up the tournament, so it isnt that bad, on the other hand it loses its claim to having the best woman and thus being the proper championship.
Not sure how it works in England, but getting planning permissions, loans, builders etc to start building something new there will probably take a lot of time, years? So unless something already passed thru the county or whatever I doubt they will close it soon. Best thing for WDF would be a long term contract, but one where Lakeside gets a 13 month notice option when they wish to sell, that way WDF can find a different venue and directly sell tickets for that after the current tournament. But doubt Lakeside want that if they really want to build houses there. Rumours of doing that are going on for years so it might be bullshit.
WDF, if it needs to move, really needs a venue with movable walls or something like the Hull City Hall, where they had the WM before, it has a balcony, so you just sell those spots just last. Sits 1200 persons, but I doubt you will need that many, probably could do with a 1000 person venue. Especially with a venue change they need to get rid of sessions, they need a good impression the first time with a full room. Venue with a balcony would be a big change from the low ceiling though

Think they are going to change to sets if tv is ok with it, Rolls maybe just being vague because he simply doesnt know if they get a tv deal

Outside lakeside, attempts to stage ticket, non-exbo events in the UK have been a complete disaster for years. They would need to be extremely careful.

This is where the government needs to step in and ensure there is TV coverage suitable for the official governing body of one of the biggest sports in the UK.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Re: WDF Season 2025
Rolls mentioned the Hungarian government, so they probably get money from them. Hopefully there will be some good Hungarian players soon, so this might be a lasting thing. Although a combination of the European cup (or world cup when it is in Europe) with afterwards the World Masters would also be a logic move I think. Lots of players already there (nearly 400 last year). But it should always go where there is a chance on tv coverage
