Re: The Greatest Show on Earth - 2025 PDC World Darts Championship (15th December - 3rd January Alexandra Palace, London
Statistically, what were the odds of Taylor vs. Barneveld, in a random "balls out of a bag" draw like the FA Cup, being drawn to meet each other in the quarter finals of the UK Open for 3 years in a row from 2006-2008? Yet it happened. If Sky and the media wanted them to face each other (which they did), they'd have chosen the final, not the quarter final. Also strangely, Barney won all 3 of those quarter final matches (11-10 in 2006, 11-4 in 2007 and 10-9 in 2008).

She likely won’t be beating Meikle unless she finds her best form. Been quite crap all year tbh

Facts are facts he was terrible last year but seems to have found form this year. I think he’s still not as good as he was maybe 2/3 years ago but he beat Gando at the players last week and he’s already played against a woman at the worlds in Fashton. So then nerves won’t be there for him, if they wanted Fallon v Littler I wouldn’t have given her Meikle

Seem to recall he missed quite a few events last year which naturally didn't help his cause, not the sexiest name, but even the jobbiest of ProTour jobbers often get underrated in comparison with the international qualifiers. Sherrock had some cracking runs on TV between 2019 and 2021, but those have dried up sinceTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:38 amFacts are facts he was terrible last year but seems to have found form this year. Wrong. Women are underrated because they don't play at the highest level often enough. Sherrock is indeed a quality player but if anything she is overrated because she is a woman. The Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:51 amYes but women get underrated sometimes due to misogynythegentle wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 1:58 pmSeem to recall he missed quite a few events last year which naturally didn't help his cause, not the sexiest name, but even the jobbiest of ProTour jobbers often get underrated in comparison with the international qualifiers. Facts are that she has failed repeatedly at Q-School, a level playing field, where another woman, Lisa Ashton, did not.
The true test for Sherrock would be if she got a card.

It’s quite remarkable that a player who can play so well on the telly is so bad on the floor, though perhaps those wins were just part of a purple patch and she’s reverted to the mean, because she’s not done much in the last few yearsDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 1:44 pmAgreedDfc180 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 1:31 pmWrong. Lost in a deciding set to Sexy Steve 3 years ago, lost 3-1 to Evans and Wattimena in the two years since, which is pretty standard, but she hasn’t done anything in the other events (since reaching the final on the World Series, she’s won one game and that was against Kleermaker last year who was on his way out)The Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 5:25 pm She wasn't too far off getting through in 2023, iirc

She was excellent that week, but in the last game she lost 6-3 to Rob Collins. Conan Whitehead would have got a Tourcard if he dropped out thats something the PDC haven't really addressedRogg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 5:42 pmQ-School final stage OoM 2013.
