The 86 fix

Post by Randall » Tue Jun 11, 2024 6:12 am

So, the current book I'm reading is about a 40 year old loser who gets to go back and start again from 16 with his memory intact.
What would you do differently?

Made me think about all my dumb ass mistakes down the years.

Man I would

If I could go back to 12 I could stop one of my school mates being killed.
Most of my regrets centre around women, obviously

That's rough. Sorry.

None of my school folk have died, that I know of. Although I did used to sit next to a lad in IT who is now in prison.

Dare I ask why your mate from IT ended up in prison?

He was a part of some huge telephone scam to defraud the elderly. There was a bunch of them and they made hundreds of thousands.

We had some huge climbing frames back in the day
One was a giant dome
He fell from the top one lunchtime

Every parents worse nightmare would have been the call that was made to them later that day

I went to 3 different secondary schools, The smallest of the 3 had just 300 pupils, I was in a class of 28 pupils and of those there have been 5 that passed away, One was killed in an accident at his family farm, One in a road traffic accident, 2 through drugs and the most recent one was a good mate of mine who suffered with a lot of health issues (Had to have his toes amputated before he was 35 and went downhill from there)

The school closed and we were merged into a bigger school and from those in our year there (I only stayed for 6 months so didn't really make any new friends there) Another 6 that I know of all passed away before they were 40.

I think we all have things in our lives that we with we could have done differently, Career choices, Partners, Cars or houses you have bought that caused you nothing but bother, People you have fallen out with, Put more money on big winning bets, Spent more time with family etc.
