Just seen this.

WTF this is going to be absolutely appalling. The like of Wright, Aspinall and DVDB are now in every Euro Tour this year how is that fair?

The gap is going to get bigger in terms of top 16 and top 32 as the same players are going to start amassing money.

How can anyone think this Is a good move in terms of fairness.

Each Euro Tour has become like a mini World Championship, interesting. It says the 16 top players on the ProTour get seeded to round 2 and will need to win a game to get the money on their OoM totals, but nothing about the other automatic qualifiers, I take that to assume that anyone else who automatically qualifies will get the money on their OoM totals?
I hope it was just an omission in the wording. Last year the 2 invited Home Nation players didn't earn ranking money if they lost in the 1st round. So any player, whether a seed or not who didn't go through a qualifier had to win a game to earn ranking money.
No omission there. This is what they want. It only applies to you if you are a seed. This was already the case for the seeds last year.

The useless cunts getting in through the main OoM will get their money.

Fuck this.
This was last year's and what's still currently on the PDC site:
"Invited players (the top 16 ranked who are exempted to the last 32 and any Host Nation qualifiers who qualify automatically as a result of their ranking) who lose in their first match of the Event shall not be credited with prize money on the Order of Merit, ProTour Order of Merit or European Tour Order of Merit, however they shall still receive full prize money payment."

They haven't yet updated the wording on the OoM rules. I'll wait to see it after they update their page, because it wouldn't make sense to guarantee people invited as non-seeds money and effectively the European Championships as well.

But the problem with this shift isn't really the Main top 16. 10 of the Pro Tour top 16 are Main OOM Top 16, and 15 of the Pro Tour top 32 are top 16. (Dobey is 34th on the Pro Tour)

The problem is that this now put a huge wedge between the Pro Tour Top 32 and everybody else. The Top 32 now only have to win 1 game to earn a big chunk of money, which then helps keeps them in the Pro Tour top 32. The other 96 players are vying for 10 spots and will have to win 3 or 4 games just to earn 1.25k and get to the same level of opportunity.

It's completely mental. I give it 1 year before they realise how bad this is.

Plus 16:

- One Nordic & Baltic Qualifier
- One East Europe Qualifier
Absolutely revolting and retarded choice. I hate everything about it.

+1

The Euro Tour is effectively going to become a mini PL with the same players constantly playing each other ffs

What a dreadful change. The euro tour is absolutely crucial for players outside of the top of the rankings to keep their tour cards, now with only 10 places this is going to become even harder, as Safc has already pointed out, this is only going to further increase the gap between the top boys and the rest. You only have to look at Scott Mitchell’s tour experience and lack of ET qualifications to see how important it is towards the overall order of merit.

The qualifying system was bang on and was the perfect way to give lesser players a chance to learn and grow in stage matches, fuck this

“5 or 6 oddballs” btw, I hadn’t even read Twitter when I posted my response however have just had a look and I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a negative reaction, even the PL format change was about 80/20 negative. This is 99% negative, from hundreds of comments and quote responses

I don't think it'll be that much harder, if at all, to qualify for these events for the lower ranked players, almost all of the top 32 players will be exempt from the qualifiers and there will ultimately be more tour card holders qualify for each event, but as the first round is seeded, it will be harder for those players to go on runs. I'm a fan of Dimitri, but by the sounds of it, he's a lucky lucky boy to get free first round cash for the first few events at least. The Associate qualifiers were a bit of a joke because of the schedule, but still, if I were a player like Baetens or Plaisier (who hopefully will have tour cards very soon!) who went on runs last season without a tour card, I'd be sick

Would dearly love to know how the qualifiers are seeded, is it based on main OoM or ProTour OoM? If it's the main tour, then Luke Littler (and of course Scott Williams, and Kim for the first few events at least) will have an easier path to qualifying
