The real ssjsa wrote: Wed Sep 20, 2023 11:20 pm Just listened to the Matt Porter interview and due to work commitments have not been on the forum recently, but my take on the PL format is below.

I attend the PL in Glasgow every year and Imo the current format is fantastic and for those in the venue having a competition winner every night is a huge plus.

The PDC do not make decisions based on feedback from forums, but rather attendance and viewing figures and if the knockout format had a detrimental effect on either or both of these commercial considerations then there is no doubt they would look at changing the format.
My interest in the PL waxes and wanes throughout the season, but then again it always has, it's nothing to do with the nightly format, it's just the nature of a tournament that takes so long, if Porter says the fans attending are more engaged with this format, I have no reason to doubt him. He's put it rather clumsily, but ultimately, a lot of the criticism comes from nerds like us who will never be happy with the format

The only thing I disagree with him on is Greaves, I think he's missing a trick in making her choose between the two tournaments, fair enough making the men choose, but the women have never had to make that choice
Haven't listened to it yet. But I have the feeling they won't go out and out to change her mind whatever she decides. I suppose we have to wait and see. But agree they should have made an exception for the women. They don't have that many options.
He said it's their choice, but then said, in essence, that because they were investing a lot of money in women's darts she should choose the PDC.

But given that she's not that interested in doing Dev or Challenge Tour, she might play the WDF Worlds and take the PDC money that's there.

Watched it this evening.

The bloke is an arrogant bell end who contradicts himself every interview.

He is completely talking out of his arse regarding the PC's midweek problem I guarantee especially the German ones next year we will see a block with 30+ withdrawals.

The PL thing there must be a load of keyboard warriors out there then because literally everyone I know thinks it boring repetitive shite this is including the 12 lads I play with in the club.

The another thing Mars Barrs didn't press him on was how does Luke Littler playing in a WDF youth event effect the PDC brand.

If the WDF womens cheque is 15k or more If i was Beau i would play Lakeside.

Matt Porter is going to kill the game. You'd never hear Uncle Barry come out with this kind of shit because he knew what made money and didn't need to get into twitter slap fights with people with 27 followers to prove it.
Porter will slowly kill the game.... too arrogant
He’s been involved for years and the games been growing massively, think he’ll be alright
I've worked for bosses like him. You have to be truly shit for things to immediately stop dead in their tracks, Matt Porter isn't quite that bad.
It's more "death by a thousand cuts" when CEO's like him turn up. As soon as they see the signs of progress slowing they jump ship to somewhere else and everybody else deals with the shitstorm they've made

presumably ticket sales excellent, sky viewing figures excellent, or they'd be making changes.

Ticket Sales are good as its "Better" to go to (Tournament in a night) viewing figures are lower then World Matchplay this year

We all chemicals, vitamins and minerals
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.
