The 2001 version of DBG would be top 16 in the WDF.

You just behave like an ideological nutcase nowadays. You love shifting 'Taylor in his pomp' along the timeline. But only ever In one direction. It's dishonest.

If you want to succeed in making an actual point, drop him into the 80s too. Or let's just play Fawlty Towers game 5!

Harder to drop him back
Bristow would never have tutored him in the early 80s

I didn't realise you were being so scientific. I'll put on my white coat and grab a test tube mate.

It's fantasy scenarios Randy! You can do anything. Do you not like to think of pomp Doug wiping Lowey off the map?

Gulp.

It's a fair point though. Wherever Taylor's pomp falls, the rest are getting broadly killed. Battles would always be won, as you often say, but never the war. Not against Taylor.

Yes the players who came after Doug (AD) are lucky that they never had to cope with the beast, but so are the players who came before the cunt (BC). That's all I'm saying really.

New Year's Day will mark a decade since he won the Worlds. Not many young folks today will have witnessed it.

It's a fair point.

Even if we acknowledge that Taylor was a product of Bristow, and therefore had to succeed him, then we have to also acknowledge that Jocky, Lowe, Deller, Bob, etc were lucky they shared the same era as the master rather than the protégé. The master had a 9 year span between 77 and the 86 World Championship where he won most of the major events, then only won one major event after that. The protégé dominated for longer and during his peak periods he was unplayable.
