stirchley open
Just got back from a tournament in Birmingham, had a good time but left to rue missed doubles
A lot of good players there; Joe Palmer, Nigel Heydon, Pat Pace, Nick Fulwell, Dave Honey and others I recognized. Missed the group of death but still had Nick Fulwell and Dave Honey in my group. Format was 4 legs and all 4 were to be played. First up was Dave Honey and he just outscored me I had to 2 darts at the double, missed both and lost 4-0. Next up was Nick Fulwell and oh how I should have beaten him. Missed the bull for a 126 out first leg. Missed 3 darts at a double second leg, missed bull for a 108 out in the third leg. Lost 4-0 but happy I kept with him. Next up was a guy called Matt and more missed doubles in the 1st leg saw me lose that. But after that my scoring gave enough breathing room to keep missing doubles without being punished including another bull finish for a 110 this time. Took the win 3-1. Last game was against a guy called Liam who was buoyed having beaten Dave Honey and only needed a draw. I couldn't qualify by this point but wasn't going to make it easy. He broke me in the first leg but I broke straight back including yet another missed bull finish for 82. Both scoring well but he broke again in the third. 4th leg both down to a double after 15 but he fluffs 40 and I take D8 for the draw.
Case of ifs buts and maybes but happy with how I played overall and things to work on for the UK Open qualifier in 2 weeks.

No shame at all losing to Honey and Fullers Gra, pushing Fullers all the way despite the scoreline's something to take encouragement from. Take the positives mate, you know you have the game to worry more than a few and when the doubles start going in .........

I've watched him play a few times Gra and as Dicie said he's a proper player. Is he still wearing glasses?

He's capable of sub 15 dart legs Gra, seen him chuck a load in on the tour. He also does what we do, think about the game too much and it costs
