Where do you hang your hat when going to the boozer for a game of spears?

Guinness man myself for league games and important comps, 6 pints max does the trick nicely. Once beat then can consume large amounts of cider, and then hit the middle to top shelf, Smirnoff or the odd brandy

Used to be a bitter man, but it beggers my guts up so tend to stick with lager now a days finishing the night off with a few JD and cokes.

I find speckled hen a bit brutal. Prefer a copper coloured (preferably local) ale.TomH wrote:Pale ale or Old Speckled Hen for me.
Perhaps we could start an ale club up.

A fine tipple. You can't beat a good pint of hand pumped ale.D & B wrote:Love the ale.TimmyB wrote:I find speckled hen a bit brutal. Prefer a copper coloured (preferably local) ale.TomH wrote:Pale ale or Old Speckled Hen for me.

Mind you, there is nothing worse than a dodgy pint. Therefore, it's always advisable to have a quick look round the boozer and see if anyone else is drinking it.

Too true, always found 6X a very inconsistent pint. More to do with hows its kept rather than the beer itself.TimmyB wrote:A fine tipple. It's mainly to do with how it's kept, also has a bit to do with how it travels.D & B wrote: Too true, always found 6X a very inconsistent pint. More to do with hows its kept rather than the beer itself.
Harvey's is a great choice in Sussex, but elsewhere, if there is another option, I tend to give it a miss.

Thinking about it I've probably had more shite pints of bitter than good ones.

I think that's what puts people off. They drink some slop and then think that's what real ale is.D & B wrote:Thinking about it I've probably had more shite pints of bitter than good ones.

Re: Ale, lager, cider, spirits
Guinness for me now got fed up of all the potato juice.
One year I got a bike for my birthday. So I went peddling off down the road and knocked an old lady down.
'Can't you ring your bell?' She said. 'I can ring my bell,' I said 'But I can't ride my bike'

Last time i was in the states Skew there were alot od these clubs (sort of unlicenced bars) selling cheap beer, all bottled or spirits. One i drank in and went back a few times was of lads that had previously been in the army over there, and had there little club, 6 darts boards and a few poool tables.
Great set up

Re: Ale, lager, cider, spirits
Nowadays it's a bottle of bud in my local the reason being the only draught beer they have is tennents which is sewage
Othe pubs close by have fosters & carlsberg on draught so I will happily have a pint of either of them
