Re: The Brown Bread thread
That really is an inaccurate statement. They bring in far more for this country than they cost.
For the record I am not a staunch monarchist either but I would much rather we have a royal family than not.

Serious question. If it was upto you, what would you do with the Royal family? I assume you are a republican ( not in the Irish sense) What would you do with Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor castle.

With all the royal palaces open the revenue would be far greater.

Turn them into social housing so many families could benefit rather than one from tax payers money

Wow. Whilst you are entitled to your opinion, I think you are totally wrong regarding increased revenue if the monarchy was abolished.Randall wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:07 pmOf course they would.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:02 pmWould they?Randall wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 6:59 pmThe revenue would come in if they were removedHalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 6:55 pmThat really is an inaccurate statement. Interestingly enough you posted a comment ( I think yesterday) referring to Tony Benn as a nutter, yet you seem to think along the same lines
I didn’t have you down as the loony left type.

Re: The Brown Bread thread
So you would turn Buckingham palace into social housing?Which is located in one of the most exclusive parts of London. It wouldn’t work would it.M H wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:09 pmHalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:02 pmWould they?Randall wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 6:59 pmThe revenue would come in if they were removedHalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 6:55 pmThat really is an inaccurate statement. If the monarchy ever was abolished and let’s be honest it ain’t happening in any of our lifetimes. I am sure the royal houses would be used as museums to try to create revenue. With the possibility of one of them being given to the main monarch ( whoever it would be at the time) to live in.

Americans come here for history as they have none of their own. What difference to them does it make if the royal family is still there if the architecture is?HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:38 pmWow. The Queen I believe owns outright Balmoral and the Sandringham estate so I doubt they would be tourist attractions.
You do realise that when the Queen dies it will arguably be the biggest news story ever and it would be far bigger than Price Phillips death and at least on a par if not bigger than Princess Diana’s death.
